please stop with your illusions
please stop acting as if Americans do not benefit from exclusions
please stop acting like America isn’t racist
please stop acting like you accept all color of faces
please stop hiding behind clever placed words scribed and pontificated
please stop acting like your government doesn’t profit from discrimination
please stop acting like equality is real when it has to be litigated
please stop ignoring the fact that prejudice isn’t assimilated
please stop believing justice is real when it is overly disseminated
please stop acting like you see us innocent, when we are born incriminated
please stop acting like you fear us when we are systemically intimidated
please stop acting like assistance gives our struggle vindication
please stop acting like you don’t prefer us as subjugated consumers
please stop acting like the terror you still engage us with are just rumors
please stop acting like slavery didn’t happen
please stop acting like the 3/5ths human being compromise didn’t happen
please stop acting like lynch mobs and the KKK didn’t happen
please stop acting like the Tulsa Bombing didn’t happen
please stop acting like gentrification, redlining, and zoning doesn’t happen
please stop acting like highways and waste management doesn’t happen
please stop acting like bad water doesn’t happen
please stop acting like miseducation and low budget schooling don’t happen
please stop acting like I even cracked the surface
because so much more has happened
because so much more still happens
and we were good where we were…
until you happened
and the irony of it all is
now somehow you act as if
we happened
like we are dead weight you must bear
who brought the weight over anyway?!
at least I said please
Culture
A Talent for Sovereignty
as I grow
evolve I must
coming aware
of what’s needed
like veins to a bloodstream
as a black man
representation is both
restoration
and respiration
or dialogue loses substance
convening with lesser in common
and after so long
what is the point
when our cultural aims
may be as separate as the coming day’s sun
the last thing I need
is another unalike presence presiding over me
til the impending curve
your assistance is accepted
but your permission…?
nah, I’m good
Act Out
what I know now
I can not let it go
it can not be forgotten
as what is now understood
peace is not meditated
peace is not prayed
peace is created
peace is a firm action
peace in itself
is a declaration of the self
as part of the whole
there is no self peace achieved
when others of the whole suffer
there is only dejection
isolation may offer rest
but it can not manifest true peace
I know now that
we are individuals only in body
not in truth
so that which I seek
is not only for myself
but for all
this knowing has inclined me to say
stand up
speak up
act up
or save your complaints
and false compassion
living your secluded life
because frozen feet
and distant voices
create nothing but meaningless noise
us peace seekers
peacekeepers
peace bringers
and peace bearers
can do without
it takes us All
black lives matter
because all lives matter
so if all lives matter
make sure that black lives matter
because “Black Lives Matter”
is more than,
Black Life, matters
Fallible Makeup
Some
think the system is perfect
We know it isn’t
and
We will make a dent,
a dent
is all that’s needed
to cut the nose off
just to spite the face of
ignorance
pride
privilege
prejudice
oppression
corrupt and unchecked power
inequality
injustice
and
systemic racism
but
You and I
We,
we will change this world
one
abrasion
and
blemish
at a time
so that imperfection
won’t be cloaked in
the makeup of perfection
and
perfection
will be created
within the imperfect
beauty will not be a lie
nor hidden
it will be in all things
seen as truth
because
truth
will be ubiquitous
in all things
naturally-
as it is-
without our distortions
insecurities
and augmentations
like true
and deep
beauty
now the mission is clear
we’re out to do
an extreme and radical
makeover
remembering, and
restoring
the source of all
beauty-
as it is in
the people
us all
all throughout life,
living,
all living,
and non-living things
then We
will all know
not think
that we are
we are imperfectly perfect
or the other way around
and so shall it be your choice
after all
it is a makeover
Partisan Brawl
as partisans stall
we fall
but take your time
it’s not like we’re dying for change!
and so I wrote a nursery rhyme
in tribute to your lack of care and awareness of time
it goes like this!
partisan wall
partisan wall
you stall
while we fall
see saw, see saw!
yee haw, yee haw!
partisan wall
partisan wall
you stall
as we crawl
see saw, see saw!
yee haw, yee haw!
oh how fond I am,
this condition I’m sprawled
enthralled in the fun
by the cause of it all
and what a ride!
what a rush!
as time flies
you lose touch
oh, what a ride!
and, what a rush!
time passes by
and then we’re hushed
