Exhibit

who I am at this moment
is a work of art
behold it
live it
own it
color
color
color
aspects of my pieces
peaceful pieces of me intersect
with your senses
this moment I am peace
the next, I am riot
revel in the balance at the core of my being
at this moment
you may only
capture me in this moment
then poet me free
because I live to rebel
my life is rebellion
paint me free
picture me free
believe me free
and you will see
and I will poet you a better version
of me
who I am in this moment
am
energy
am
frequency
am
sage
sagacious
sagacity
am
color
color
color
display disproportions
sound
light
am
am
am
I
you
am
me
am
us
am
we
I
I
I
us
now
ever
eternal
infinity
in one moment
art
talent
gift
present
now
bye.

The Better to Lure You With

June 28, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

the better I write
the more I may draw you
in
to me
you may draw me
or scribble
maybe even venture an outline
but art is art
you envisioned
and I was no longer transparent
I am tangible to you
obsessed with writing better
you may love me one day
they may love me better
outside of this
life is too nuanced
trying to decipher risk
when I’m as hyper as hyperbole
as introverted as hyperbolic
as uncertain as hypothesis
maybe my creativity can
create us
can
create freedom
can
create love
can
create acceptance
can
create wholeness
can
create healing
can
create sanity
can
you create with me?

Foolishly Jaded Genies

June 27, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

taken for granted
by grant writers
granted, I am the grantee
before the granter
professing guarantees
to hearts of granite
nitpicking grants
but this gift was granted by the grandest
despite what they, I’ll do my damnedest

How Did You Know?

ready mind?
reading mind
reading minds
read my mind
and we were one, the whole time

I’ve climbed
at this late of hour
REM’s Everest
she stirs little
and I venture
in this mountains peak
has my thoughts of she
placed me
in her dreams
although alone
below the clouds, above the breeze
with all there is to scream
as cathartic impulses halt my rest
I simply pray
she sleeps in peace
restored and set free
to be
wherever she seeks
and God deems it be
