Two Sides to a Country

May 1, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

in a democracy
the people have a right to criticize their government
in communism
the oppressed are not allowed to openly criticize the oppressor
and if I call it racism
I’ll look like I’m not taking proper responsibility
for my own circumstances and conditions
because I need to protect cause, and white fragility
Behold this life!
fore I am an instrument of melancholy
what a dream,
it would be
if I could live,
in your democracy

For the Time, Being

May 1, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

black lives matter
until another matter, matters
until another form, swarms
until another cause, draws
until replacement, replaces
until the next occasion persuades us
until another mother’s stomach wields
another Emmit Till
beyond the lectern
before the lantern
shinning upon the next concern
with the ashes of its predecessor in inside an urn
we have to seize our turn
fore a moment never lasts
even if we’re used to being exactly that, last

The Way

April 26, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

wisdom compassion
peace prosperity health
love light liberation
harmony balance synchronicity
wholeness holism
justice righteousness truth
knowing aware conscious
fore I Am
the chaos to order
the reorder to chaos
and the equilibrium of the renewed Way
if not now,
then in the now,
for ‘now’ is forever
and each moment,
I walk closer into eternity
navigating parallel to nature
discovering my nature
embodying the duality of reality
signs symbology
revealing the illusion
understanding the absolute
mastering the relative
surrendering to the truth
manifesting the word
becoming the light
physical
to
metaphysical
to
spiritual
I Am

follow me.
find you.
You Are I Am
Oneness.

what does this say to you?

Convalescence

April 26, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

we need a blow
how can we rest and heal
when we are steady
climbing the rocky terrain
of a hill
and that hill is
trauma
to heal is
traumatic
reliving all which has made us
traumatized
black don’t crack
but tears burn
and sear my mind
the mind can not overcome
the barrage of trauma inflicted
if it becomes
trauma dependent
before we could finish
breathing out a collective breath
there again
not far beyond the windowpane of our existence
we became in view of another death
emotional equilibrium is nonexistent
mental homeostasis is a war
“and we shall overcome”
is beginning to sound like folklore
this is what generational trauma means
we still feel
and endure
the mental and emotional pains
of slavery
trans genetically imposed
within our nervous circuitry
biological mental hardwiring
this why the strength and resilience of our emotions
are taken for granted
because we inherited that as well
in order to survive
damn, we can’t breathe!

Stoic Chauvin

April 26, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

mysterious,
your last name
short for
chauvinism
stoic and calm,
your reserve
sure
bold
and
cold-blooded
but you can shove
that disposition
on the prison yard,
where both
stoicism
and
chauvinism
play a major role
so play your part
and
keep
that
same
energy
when you touchdown

It is What it has Always Been

April 25, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

police brutality
synonymous with
black reality
celebrations
are for rare occasions
an underlying issue
and underlining meaning
speaks deep
within what I’m truly saying
