as one journey ends
a new one arises
and it promises freedom
illusions which can swallow me whole
beckoning the animal’s rise, by heat of its arrival
temptation is just attempts at survival
but just as the bird’s migration
so to must my animal spirit
for its retention tenses me
but as I regain moisture
the cool waters summon me
peacefully, my feet leave ground
a levigation as graceful as the bird’s soar
adorned by a falcon’s view of all
recognizing with certainty
where true freedom is found
