America continues to say, f#You!

April 1, 2021 by Russell Wardlow Leave a Comment

how can our democracy be the moral police of the world
and our laws be just and equal in their protection
yet our government created by the people, for the people
continue to act in the favor of one group of people
especially in its retributive acts once another group of people have social and economic gains
it only serves to narrow the gap and even out the scales of opportunity, privilege, equal rights, and protection
how can our system work to limit the disadvantaged
creating more disadvantages,
still telling the lie that ‘we are better than this’
that our system-its structure-
and the institutions within it are ‘just’
and those that enforce them are ‘just’,
yet it only works to serve interests, privilege, and subjugation over darker pigmented people and nefariously created urban communities
no, we aren’t better than this…this is just who we are
so I’m not surprised, and matter of fact,
I need to stop saying ‘we’
because America does a great job of separating itself from me,
isolating me to fend for myself against its predatorial system
I’m no citizen, I’m a casualty of war-
a by-product of oppression
a token of subjugation
an object of disdain
and a criminal by design
fuck you America!
stop lying to your people!
At least Georgia doesn’t hide its intent
it doesn’t tell us to shut up, it just changes laws to shut us up
while laws on criminal reform take generations-
as it ‘takes,’ generations
