my experience is different than yours
yea were all the same,
but my skin has to be a lot thicker
and I’m noticed right away
my experience is different from yours
they believe me aggressive in nature
I’m more exhausted from over monitoring my every action
one false move can prove fatal at any time
so ‘lost in the moment’ takes on new meaning
my experience is different from yours
and I may have to over apologize for myself
I understand my color and culture can get to be too much for you
and I don’t mean to impose, like you unapologetically do me
see my experience is just different from yours
if I cut myself I’m insane
but I’m just trying to peel back the thing that drives you crazy
and for some reason makes you hate me
unfortunately I’ll still act black
but if I could somehow change that
then maybe you’ll finally…
wait, what would that even make me?!
still too different from you!
